Pocahontas Middle School is located near Richmond, VA, USA in western Henrico County. The school is operated by Henrico County Public Schools.
In January 2000, Pocahontas opened with transfer students from Short Pump Middle School, Harry F. Byrd Middle School, and other local schools.
Ray Hunnicutt led the school as principal from its opening, until he retired in June 2008.

In 2005, Pocahontas topped the SOL charts with 95% of students passing in 8th grade Math and Reading categories, the best of county middle schools. As of 2006, Pocahontas is recognized as a National Blue-Ribbon School under the No Child Left Behind Act.[1]
The Lady Pocahontas Hawks tennis team had an undefeated season in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 school year. The football team had its first win in two years over Hungary Creek. The Hawks basketball team went undefeated in 2006 along with the boys tennis team.
Students who attend Pocahontas generally move on to Deep Run High School or Mills E. Godwin High School, but a few go to other specialty centers in Henrico County, as well as the Maggie L. Walker Governor's School. As with all Henrico middle school students, Pocahontas students are provided iBook G4s.[2]
