James Oglethorpe
James Edward Oglethorpe (* 22. Dezember 1696 in London; † 30. Juni 1785, Cranham, England) war ein britischer General und Philanthrop. Er grundete den spateren US-amerikanischen Bundesstaat Georgia. Nach ihm sind der Oglethorpe County und die Oglethorpe University in Atlanta benannt.
