Three individuals - Akshay (Tusshar Kapoor), Mr. Joshi (Anupam Kher) and Lambodar (Rajpal Yadav) have their own share of troubles as a common man. While Akshay is a struggling crime reporter, Mr. Joshi is a retired accountant troubled by his ungrateful son. Lambodar finds it difficult to deal with his wife over his job. Together they share their plight and find solace in each other's company.
On one occasion, their harmless prank to tackle their problems leads to a series of events that puts them into media spotlight. Upon gathering this attention, the trio put their new-founded fame into effect leading to several instances. The sequence of events turn them into being the talk of the nation.
Sachin Yardi, who previously worked as a scriptwriter for films such as Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005) and Traffic Signal (2007), got an idea for story which dealt with ordinary men placed in extra-ordinary situations. He worked on the script for six months and invested a lot of time in the character sketches.[3] Speaking about his directorial debut, Yardi felt direction to be a satisfying experience and helped him have control over his script.[4] Post-filming, he felt that the film was executed in the way he wanted it and was quite confident about they way it shaped up.[3]
Until this film, Raima Sen appeared in supporting roles in several films such as Chokher Bali (2003), Parineeta (2005), Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. (2007). This was the first time in her commercial movie career that she portrayed a lead character's role. Quite unlike her real life love for food, Sen portrays a role of a dietitian.[5] Tusshar Kapoor, the sibling brother of producer Ekta Kapoor, loved to work in the film due to his sister's conviction to the film.[6]
The film released on August 29, 2008 all across India with most critics terming it as a poor film. The film's release coincided with the release of six other movies - Hijack, Chamku, Mukhbiir, Rock On!!, Wanted and Wall E.[7] While Hindustan Times in its review criticized the film in its entirety,[8] Rediff.com found it difficult to class the film under a particular genre.[9] Sify.com rated the efforts as average and wondered about the untimely inclusions of songs in the film. Unlike the other reviews, it rated actor Tusshar Kapoor's performance as excellent.[10] Another entertainment website, in its review, said that the film was an "insult to the comedy genre."[11]
