中国皇帝的即位，便是坐上龙椅。

即位，又称登基或登极，是围绕着第一次坐上御座而举行的就职仪式。御座在某些场合可视为权力的象征：无论是世俗权力还是宗教权力。同样的，即位仪式也可以发生在教堂或国家中。
