遗传物质

遗传物质是生物用来储存遗传讯息的物质。目前已知的所有生物中，几乎全部都以DNA为遗传物质分子，少数如部份病毒，则以RNA作为遗传物质。除此之外，过去科学家曾经以为生物的遗传物质为蛋白质。确认DNA为遗传物质的实验为赫希-蔡斯实验。
